Terms of service
These terms are an agreement between you and Synth and Scale LLC, a single-member limited liability company organized in Illinois ("we", "us"), for using Ladder Night. By creating an account you accept them. If you sign up for a club or organization, you confirm you are allowed to accept them on its behalf.
1. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a contract.
2. The service
Ladder Night helps an organizer run a ladder league: track who is out, deal the courts, print the sheet and scoresheets, record results and update the ladder. We keep improving it, so features may change. We won't remove anything central to running a league night without telling you first.
3. Your account
You sign in with codes sent to your email, so keep that inbox secure. You are responsible for what happens in your account and in leagues you own, including actions by co-organizers you add. Tell us at support@synthandscale.com if you think someone else has gotten in.
4. Your league data
The player names and league information you enter stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide the service. You are responsible for having the right to enter them, and for letting your players know their names are kept in the league's online sheet. You can download everything at any time.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use Ladder Night to:
- break the law or violate someone else's rights;
- enter information you have no right to use;
- try to get into another league or account, or around its security;
- overload, disrupt, copy or resell the service.
6. Trial and payment
- A new league gets a 3-day free trial. No card is needed, and nothing is charged when the trial ends.
- To keep making changes after the trial, subscribe for $49 a month per league, plus any applicable taxes. If you subscribe during the trial, the first charge waits until the trial days you had left run out.
- Stripe charges your card each month, in advance, until you cancel. We may change the price with at least 30 days' notice by email; the new price applies from your next billing date after that.
- A failed payment alone changes nothing: Stripe retries it and emails you. If the subscription ends (you cancel, or the retries run out), the league becomes read-only. You can still open the sheet, print, read results and download your data. We never make that switch on a league night.
7. Cancelling and refunds
Cancel any time from Manage billing on your league's Billing page. The league stays fully active until the end of the period you have paid for. Payments already made are not refunded for partial months, except where the law requires it. If something went wrong on our side, write to support@synthandscale.com and we will make it right.
8. After a league ends
A league whose subscription has ended stays read-only. 12 months later we email the owner, and 30 days after that the league and its data are deleted unless you subscribe again. The privacy policy has the details.
9. If we end your access
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Unless the law or safety prevents it, we will tell you first and give you a chance to download your data.
10. No warranty
We work hard to keep Ladder Night accurate and available, but it is provided "as is". We don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. The organizer stays in charge of the league: check the sheet before sending it, and nothing moves on the ladder until you apply it.
11. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it arose.
12. Indemnity
If a claim is brought against us because of data you entered or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in Illinois.
14. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Ladder Night after that means you accept the new terms.
